10 ways to end a nation or the world
The tabletop exercise is a meeting to discuss a simulated emergency
situation. Staff members review and discuss the actions they would take in
a particular emergency, testing their emergency plan in an informal, low-stress
environment. Tabletop exercises are used to clarify roles and responsibilities and to
identify additional campus mitigation and preparedness needs.
The exercise should result in action plans for continued improvement of the emergency plan.
Key components of an Emergency Action Plan
- Evacuation procedures, escape routes and floor plans.
- Reporting and alerting authorities.
- Alerting staff and visitors of an emergency.
- Accounting for people after implementing an EAP.
- Notifying parents, guardians or next of kin.
- Identifying a media contact person.
- Training new staff.
